We have now received clarity from TfL on the procedure for the conversion of Euro 5 TX4 taxi’s to Euro 6. TfL will allow conversion of all TX4 cabs with taxi plates, with expiry later than 18th December 2025. If a plate has expired the cab is allowed to return into operation after the conversion is completed, but ordering the conversion does not grant an extension of the plate.
TfL will inspect the conversion as part of the regular NSL checks, in addition to this random spot checks will be conducted on converted cabs. A converted Euro 5 TX4 will be eligible to remain licensed until it reaches a maximum 15 year age limit, in accordance with other Euro 6 taxis.
With this clarity from TfL, we are now happy to proceed with accepting orders for conversion of Euro 5 TX4 taxis to Euro 6 emission limit.
We will have the first complete kits available by the end of February 2026, and will give priority based on expiry date of taxi plates to reduce the potential time off the road to the largest extent possible.
